brick said: "how would i go about creating a simple directory for my website?
I'm using front page 2002, so what are the steps taken to create a directory.
I want to create a simple sports directory on my site, but i don't know where to start."
edwin said: "get a directory script from http://www.hotscripts.com"
Neutron2k said: "you will need a database
and you will need knowledge of ASP, or PHP.
as you are using frontpage i would suggest asp."
brick said: "what would i need to know about asp and php? is this a coding language i need to learn?"
edwin said: "just install a pre-written script, you won't need to learn anything."
raven said: "Poor Brick, getting conflicting replies."
edwin said: "i'm sure he has enough wisdom to realize my way is easier :)"
Neutron2k said: "i agree its a lot easier.
but its less beneficial. especially if somthing goes wrong with the script and you cant fix it :)
also you have the advatage or being able to write in your own features.
Altough if you are completly new i would follow edwins advice."
raven said: "For the benefit of others who read this thread: although helpful, you do not need knowledge of ASP or PHP as was stated earlier, a simple pre-written script will do it :)"
Neutron2k said: "i only suggested it because pushing people to pre-written scripts seems to be the in thing now a days so i thought id just mention you can write your own using such a technology as php or asp along with a database.
thats all :("
edwin said: "no need for a sad blue face!"
Neutron2k said: "bu there wasnt a crying one to use!"
raven said: "That's cool then, Neutron. I just wanted future users that come here through a google search to know that they can create a simple directory without having to learn programming first - if they don't want to. Your original post made it sound like they had to, but you've cleared that up now :)"
brick said: "thank guys for the help"
