Cybercrime pays big time!Cybercrime pays big time!
AngelaCea said: "News out shows that cybercrime is a bigger business than the selling of illegal drugs!

Billions are made by stealing identities and bank accounts by high jacking computers and theft of data for use in bank and credit card fraud!
www.reuters.com
For the first time, cybercrime has overtaken international drug trafficking in terms of total revenues generated. Valerie McNiven, a U.S. Treasury Department expert on cybercrime, says that last year was the first time cybercriminals generated more cash that drug dealers and that the drug business took in $105 billion. Law enforcement agencies have a problem catching cybercriminals because they move too quickly to be caught. Phishing Web sites, for example, typically stay online for only 48 hours. McNiven blames industry for not being willing to pay for secure systems. She says that banking systems in developing countries have a particular problem because they are being compromised from their very inception."

the law wants to get its finger out of its arse and concentrate on the dealers, rapists and murderers instead of people who break speed limits and copy cds.
speak about getting your priorities round the wrong way."
AngelaCea said: "Tell that to the family that lost $90,000.00 from their bank account because hackers were able to steal data from their box! :o"
Neutron2k said: "shouldnt have that much in the same bank account anyway. thats just dumb."

Don't you think some of that 105 Billion stolen came out of business accounts "

I break the speed limit every time I drive but everyone in Buffalo drives at least 5 miles faster than the limit and the cops don't seem to care because they do worse. Now they should give out tickets for being stupid though. The other day some idiot almost caused me to crash head on in to another car because he threw his door open and jumped out without ever looking to see if someone was coming, the street was narrow and I had to swerve into oncoming traffic and slam on my brakes to avoid hitting him and if the driver of the car in the other lane didn't stop we would have crashed into each other. Now that idiot definitely should have gotten some type of ticket."
Neutron2k said: "you shouldnt swearve if theres another car there.
hit the door and kill the dumb ass instead of the innocent people in the other car you would end up swerving into."
chris3471 said: "Sounds good but in that situation my first instinct was to swerve and brake."
Neutron2k said: "ive skidded a few times. its instint to swerve but you need to keep cool and just hit the break firmly and gradually to avoid skidding, and keep the car straight.
always be aware of whats around you."
raven said: "
Sounds good but in that situation my first instinct was to swerve and brake.
I would have done the same. No way could I have just plowed into that person knowing I'd hit him. I would have done everything in my power to avoid that, especially if it was city driving (slower speeds).
Neutron, you would have hit and possibly killed him without trying to avoid it?
I couldn't live with myself knowing I've killed someone, even if it wasn't my fault."
Neutron2k said: "rather him than kill poor innocent people in another vehical isnt it? that could be carrying more than one person and children?
i woulnt just drive into him, i'd hit the bloody breaks hard tho. if he got hit then he got hit."
raven said: "
i woulnt just drive into him, i'd hit the bloody breaks hard tho. if he got hit then he got hit.
That is what I do for animals."
Neutron2k said: "i do that for animals to.
squirrels are the worst. They dart in random patterns and double back on themselves."
chris3471 said: "
That is what I do for animals.
That reminds me of a few months ago I was driving about 60 mph and a rabbit jumped out of nowhere, I didn't even have time to brake I hit him at the same time I saw him, I felt bad and it was the first time I ever hit an animal while driving."
Neutron2k said: "ive never hit one and hopefully never will.
i work and live in the new forest so i am used to seeing things dart around. gotta keep your wits about you."

Lol Tweety or is it Elmer Fudd. :D"
Neutron2k said: "both actually thinking about it lol"
tracepeople said: "if that's true (and we're assuming that we know of all the drug dealing going on - it not just being easier to monitor cyber crime than drug dealing) then its only a matter of time before the banks and the police make big changes to how online people operate."
Neutron2k said: "problem is, policing the net is a tough job."
unixk1d said: "Who is going to police the net anyways, there is no one body in place to do it. Anyways, even if there was, there is no way that they could keep track of all the traffic that passes through the Internet. Sure illegal sites are closed down all the time, but new ones just spring up within the next hour, and who can really stop that from happening? Because the Internet is free and free from authoirty, it is no wonder that everyone can just do as they please, lie, steal, cheat people out of their money, and get away with it clean. Its a creul world out there, be careful guys/gals...
"
Neutron2k said: "the us (icann) seem to think they should have total control over everything on the net."
Darren said: "I spend very little time worrying about who controls the Internet."
tracepeople said: "edwin's the president of the internet, so shouldn't he police it? :D
I do think that there should be a world-wide vote for president of the net, and that everyone should pay $0.01 / year tax for him t make it a safer place."
Neutron2k said: "you dont think we pay enough tax already?"
unixk1d said: "Very true, if we didn't have to pay taxes at all, we would all be rich, but that isn't the case is it?"
tracepeople said: ""taxes are what people have to pay to live in a good society - people just never consider that" - can't remember who said it but it is true. And a more secure internet for a cent a year!!!!"
Sharky said: " i heard this a wile ago but they might start putting tax on computers :o they have no chance of doing that though because its stupid lol."
unixk1d said: "Well if they started putting taxes on computers, people would stop using them, or not as much. Yes, taxes are necessary in our society cause it pays for our healthcare (or what's left of it), and our government services, and it helps keep us safe because our taxes go into services like emergency police services and the fire department."

foudnt that but i guess if they get rid of tv taxes but just changed it to pc taxes i wouldnt mind that, but would they get rid of tv itself? i dont really understand it."

Relax Sharky they aren't going to take your tv away. ;)
What they're saying is they maybe charging tax for you owning a tv when you may just have the cable line for your internet connection and not even own a tv. I think the government is trying to close a loophole, if you have a cable modem but no tv I think they would not be able to charge you the tax and if they have been charging you, you could possibly take legal action and get that money back. Now think of the millions of others who would follow suit and those who would lie and say they had no tv, it could add up to billions."
