I'm kinda stuck on this problem. Help?

Unfortunately, it seems, when I sat down to sketch out the layout and even come up with the concept of how I want it to work, it ends up seeming very difficult. I'm an artist by occupation, so I think visually. I designed the simplest layout I could think of, but it revolves around all the elements being centered together. I've seen several different suggestions so far about using CSS text-align commands to center things, but I've hit a wall of confusion. My goal is to have a title bar, under that five navigation images, under that the daily cartoon strip, below that three navigation buttons, with another three below that- all centered horizontally and vertically as a group with all relative positionings remaining constant. The idea I'm trying is saving the entire navigation layout incl. fixed-size template for the cartoon as one file and overlaying an image map to get the navigation to work. The problem I get there is aligning the cartoon precisely with the placeholder box. Would that work on a layer? If I counted pixels, could I get it to line up precisely? Also, what's the best way to get the main image map to center verically and horizontally? I would really appreciate if anyone has advice for me on this. Another problem I'm going to have to tackle is an archive system for the 'toons. I'm totally green when it comes to this stuff. Any advice there would be great as well. Thanks! -=jp"
