ErolinDesign said: "One thing you should do is get rid of any link that starts with "mailto:". Spammers use this to get addresses to add to their lists. If you still want to use the mailto: link fo customers that do not like to use online forms, you should create the link using javascript."

ErolinDesign said: "You are probably using a Catchall account. Check where the emails are being sent to i.e. info@webdomain.com, webmaster@webdomain.com, sales@webdomain.com. These aliases are common, so it might attract spam."
Sharky said: "yeah im using the root for it. kinda a bummer though but im also getting more spam to my mike[at]mydomain[dot]com but i think thats just because i signed up to something a wile ago."
sandbox said: "I had a similar problem, I got 192 e-mails in eight hours.
they were all bounces from undelivered mail. Some joker was using my e-mail address as the return path Info@my site.com
I was using a root account so I just deleted the root account set the server to bounce undeliverable mail and kept my normal account. No problem after that,
I was wondering though could there be repurcutions from someone using an e-mail account ending in my domain as a return path for spam?"
ErolinDesign said: "Yes, they and their ISP can add your domain to a SPAM list, thus limited your capabilities to communicate to those customers. An example would be if a spammer used your domain as a return address to an AOL listing. After a few complaints, AOL will add you onto the SPAM list. You will not be able to communicate to those customers. The worst part is that you won't be able to find out until it is too late. You could contest the decision if you encode your mail messages, but by then, the repercussions would be too great."
sandbox said: "It's dead easy to use any domain you want as a return path for spam. No spammer is dumb enough to leave there own domain as the return path. Anyone who goes to my domain will not be able to buy viagra. It's a web development site!
And there are other ways of tracking were an e-mail came from, like what server sent it and stuff like that. Honestly I can't see how that could happen.
(But I'm starting to panic a bit)
Can anyone else confirm that there is a potential for me to get added to a spamming database just because someone uses my domian as return path."
