Mini-Blog Network

Darren said: "I have an idea. It would be very easy for up to 5 or so of us to set up a small Blog network, which would hopefully get us recognized quickly. I know the Blogs won't really be related, but they don't have to be that close anyway. What we would do is setup all of the sites on all of the sites BlogRolls, so link popularity would grow fast. Then we would also register and comment in each others blogs so that the legitimacy would grow faster. What do you think?"

Darren said: "This could be excellent. Here's some thoughts: 10 bloggers making 1 blog post would be 300 content posts a month. All of the sites would be cross-linked from each other like blogs always are. So each time someone makes a posts, it also creates 10 links to the other blogs :) I have 3 count'em 3 PR 6 blogs to get the ball rolling with, so there's already a lot of spidering activity, etc. but not much traffic because I haven't updated much. Everyone could just run their own AdSense code to begin with, but later on we could add some Blog Network advertising to every page and do rev-share. I'm pretty good at monetizing the traffic so that wouldn't be the problem. I can also do all of the SEO. So the main thing this Blog Network would need is people who are willing to update the content often. Look at how well [url]http://www.weblogsinc.com[/url] did with this concept, selling for $25 million to AOL."

Heather said: "It sounds like an interesting idea. It would help to raise awareness to the blogs.. if all of us have something unique to contribute it could grow, too.."

edwin said: "basically you just have to search rss feeds for something to blog about. or even search google news. blogs are almost all opinions really."

Darren said: "All of the big bloggers have gone to this type of setup, and it's easy to understand why. The "Blogosphere" is so big you won't get noticed easily with a stand-alone blog. If we get even 5-8 of them going daily, the spiders would have every reason to come each day and pick up the new posts. If we comment in each others blogs, and add each other to bloglines.com etc, our visibility would lift quick. The whole key is consistency in posting. Anyone who wants to add a blog to this network let me know. It can even be a new blog you start with a specific topic in mind. If we team up as a network, we'll receive the following benefits: 1) More link popularity 2) Built-in readership 3) The discipline of posting each day will be easier in a team environment Let me know your thoughts."

Now I just need to think of something interesting. I have 2 blogs that I haven't done much with yet but I'm willing to give this a shot It seems easier now that i've seen what sucessful blogs look like."

edwin said: "99% of the popular blogs i see have short posts of probably 150 words or less. but the key is they are always updated."

chris3471 said: "That makes it seem way easier, I make posts in the forum that are more than 150 words sometimes and several a day. I think I'm the king of long posts, aside from the spammers that is.:D"

Heather said: "There is a lot of "shine" right now on blogging in general. The way blogs work is much different than just doing optimization for static sites. A lot of times you will see traffic coming right away if you have been tagged."

Darren said: "I'm moving forward so let's get it on. Anyone who wants in just post your URL so we can get started. I suggest you use Wordpress, if you already don't, because it has a ton of features and it's easiest to monetize."

chris3471 said: "Being that it's the community blog for a blog directory I'm going to use it to shed light on other blogs in the directory, basically I'm going to read a few blogs from the directory and write short reviews on a couple each day. I'm not going to write any negative reviews though just positive, If I don't like a blog I won't write about it at all. I'm hoping this will cause more people to register with the directory and this in turn could get more people to the community blog as well. The directory is [url]http://www.bloggeries.com[/url] it's SiteExpress' site and the blog is mine. I would suggest regestering all the blogs there too. Two reasons for this forum: 1) We can concentrate our posts in one easy place 2) We can recruit new websites to join our network It looks like your blog is not indexed in Google yet, Quinny. I'll add links today, and we'll see how long it takes to get in there."
