Using RSS to promote the blogs

Darren said: "For sure add a simple RSS button to your Sidebar. Also add a MyYahoo button as well. Let's all join bloglines.com and subscribe to each other's feeds."

chris3471 said: "Joined bloglines and subscribed to everyone. Now where do we find the RSS and MyYahoo buttons?"

Darren said: "Here's the generator for Yahoo http://my.yahoo.com/s/about/rss/ You edit sidebar.php and create a bullet list (using (li) Put in under About or something similar. Here's a button generator you can use for graphics. Or these are good Your RSS feed is located at your web address at /feed/rss2/"

chris3471 said: "Great. Now my next question. What about meta tags, is there a way to use them?"

Darren said: "There probably is a plugin, but I doubt it would help much. Freshness and linkage is going to matter so much more. Do you have the ability to use Mod_Rewrite and turn on Search Engine Friendly URLS in your installation? That is always worth the effort."

chris3471 said: "Haven't a clue, can you explain that?"

Darren said: "In your Admin panel, click on Options and Permalinks. That will tell you if you have a writable .htaccess"

chris3471 said: "I see some options there, which one is best?"

Darren said: "I like this one:
/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/
"

chris3471 said: "Yep it worked."

Darren said: "Alright, excellent. That is a good configuration. I'm looking for more places to add the RSS. It bombed out on My Yahoo for some reason."

chris3471 said: "I haven't added the buttons yet, I'll get to that in a few minutes. I just finished my second post of the day, now I have to remember what I was going to do next, can't remember but it was something important I think."
