Blog Republic: Birth of a CyberNationBlog Republic: Birth of a CyberNation
Darren said: "I just registered the domain "Blog-Republic.com" for the network. I think the word "Republic" is an appropriate one for this venture.
For a slogan, I think: "For the Bloggers. By the Bloggers. " or something like that might fit well. Any comments?"
chris3471 said: "I like that, we can go far with this idea."
Darren said: "You aren't kidding. Do you know how fascinated companies are right now with the "New Media" and Web 2.0? Very.
I saw an amazing stat: in China, they went from 2,000 blogs to 112 million by 2005! People love blogging and blogs."
Sharky said: ":o how are you going to get in with the big players :o"
chris3471 said: "That's where the network thing comes in, our link popularity increases every time one of us makes a post, so right now that's 8 links a day since we all will make at least 1 post per day.
From 2000 to 112 million, that's a heck of a change."
Sharky said: "oh nice idea :D"
Darren said: "It's up and running now. Blog Republic
I'll add the members links, etc, and try to design a header for it."
Heather said: "Looking good so far..
I can say I did a lot more than just one blog post today ;)"
Darren said: "It's been a big day for sure.

chris3471 said: "I did 2 myself and probably would have done one more if i didn't run into problems with the permalink.
Very nice work with the banner to BK, and quick as well. I'll add a link to the site on SMB when I get a chance"
Darren said: "Believe it or not, Blog-republic.com has already been spidered by Google. LOL, now that's quick. I wonder how long it will take to get in the index."
chris3471 said: "If we all link to it it probably won't take that long at all."
raven said: "Nice banner! Good luck with your new venture. I don't have time for maintaining a blog but if I ever do, I'll join up."
Darren said: "Sounds like a plan. It takes a lot less time then you might think :) I figured since we all meet up here once a day anyway and post, we can also make a post a day and get paid :)"
Heather said: "Be sure to let us know, Ravey..always room for another blogger :)"
chris3471 said: "I have an idea, since we're all in this together as a network and the blog republic blog is the network blog why not make a smaller version of the banner and we all put in in the sidebar as an image link to blog republic, then if someone sees the blog republic banner they will know it's a blog republic blog.
*I think that's the most times I've ever said the word blog in a single sentence.lol"
Darren said: "Check out how I have it http://www.cleveland-ohio-funguide.com/cleveland-weblog/
I added that to all the pages. We'll make a better sell page on Blog Republic that is linked from all the pages, for people who are interested in joining or advertising."
chris3471 said: "Yep that's the idea I was thinking about. You made all that today or you've been working on this for a minute?"
Darren said: "All of it has been made since 7:00pm EST :)"
chris3471 said: "I don't know how you do it, great work though."
Darren said: "Thanks man. You got to hustle to get paid in this world :)"
chris3471 said: "So do you do your own artwork as well?"
Darren said: "Sure, I use Photoshop.
I added an Application Form to the Blog Republic since our last chat. Check it out :)"
chris3471 said: "Will do. Just another question about the artwork, you obviously can't do this with a mouse so how do you do it? I'm assuming there must be some kind of drawing board or something I could get.
*edit* just had a look, it looks great."
Darren said: "Chris, I can make you a header file. Would you like that?"
chris3471 said: "That would be great, I messed about with Fireworks last night and didn't get very far, still a blank page."
Darren said: "What is the basic theme you want? I'm not that hot, but I'm sure I can whip something up."
chris3471 said: "I'm not sure exactly but I'm thinking something basic with a color rating scale, red being hot, blue being cold and maybe make it like a scale of 1 to 10 but with colors instead of numbers neutral could be grey I guess, and perhaps an arrow on the right side of the scale that would point to one of the degrees. I'm thinking about a scale like that that will be used with the reviews so that would be perfect."
Darren said: "Something like this might be good:
"
chris3471 said: "That looks great but can you drop the numbers from the scale?"
Darren said: "Sure can, hit refresh. Do you know how to install this in the header?
You add it to header.php. Replace what's in the header div with this:

Replace with your own image file and anchor text."
chris3471 said: "Great I like it, I'll get it in there as soon as the new install get's done, Jamey's working on it now so I expect it won't take too much longer. :D"
Darren said: "Cool deal. Check this out http://www.blognetworklist.com/networklist.php"
chris3471 said: "I expect we will see Blog Republic at the top of that list eventually."
chris3471 said: "I just noticed that my bloggeries.com blog is a Pr4, also I didn't even know my site SMB is a Pr3 site."
Darren said: "Looks, you're on the rise. Keep up the good work."
chris3471 said: "Will do, thanks. :D"
Darksat said: "I just added my blog to the network, now to start generating some content?"
Darren said: "Content should be no problem. What is your basic theme or interests.
BTW, welcome aboard."
chris3471 said: "Yes welcome aboard and um don't dissapear for 6 months again. lol"
Darksat said: "My Interests, the list is long, content isnt a problem.
Every thing from Art to Zen, including most things Tech, Martial Arts, Esoteric, Quantum Physics, etc
I used to know everything.
I still remember most of it.
;)"
Darren said: "Any and all of it is good.
For a man with diverse interest like yourself, I'd suggest writing about whatever subject interests you the most that minute so you can make quality posts, rather than feeling pressured to bang out posts like a machine.
All of those interests are very good niche markets, I'm sure too. By writing on many subjects, we can examine the search engine referrals and possibly find a rich vein to mind."

I used to know everything too but I can't remember any of it now."
Darksat said: "Im just wondering about SEOing my blog, plus Catagorising everything so we can see where the traffic is comming from.
I think I will just post content for the moment though."
Darksat said: "
I used to know everything too but I can't remember any of it now.
Yes you can, you just dont know it?
Between what you know and what you think you dont are the doors of perception.
I can show you how to open the door.
its up to you to walk through it.
PS, your subconcious never forgets.
Its up to you to remember this."
chris3471 said: "The trouble is that my brain is full so now everytime I learn something new I forget something old."

Blogspot is running sad today."
Darksat said: "Sometimes knowing nothing is good.
According to recognised aerotechnical tests, the bumblebee cannot fly because of the shape and weight of his body in relation to the total wing area. But the bumblebee doesn't know this, so he goes ahead and flies anyway."
chris3471 said: "Lol, that's good for the bumblebee."

I think that quote is similar.

chris3471 said: "How many people do you suppose there are in the world that will never get credit for famous quotes because they were written for famous people to say?
And then would they still be famous quotes if famous people hadn't said them?"

You cant really eff the ineffable, you can try though."
Darksat said: "Im off to have some kinky sex now, see you later.
Much much later."
chris3471 said: "I don't even have a clue what eff is, I'll assume I probably did at one time since I used to know everything, that must just be one of those things I no longer had room for."
raven said: "
Im off to have some kinky sex now, see you later.

We really needed to know that, Darksat :p"
Darksat said: "Glad I could help.
I hope you dont need pictures.;)"
