Using WordPress trackbacks

Darren said: "Here's a good tutorial on using trackbacks to help build your blog."

Darren said: "Okay, why does this thread have so many page views?"

chris3471 said: "check your logs and let us know, maybe we're on to something here, could be some magic keyword or something."

raven said: "Holy cow! Over 1000 pageviews! *waves to everyone*"

Darren said: "I think it was his page:
lion.speednoc.com - - [15/Mar/2006:12:43:55 -0500] "GET /thread4576.html/clientscript/vbulletin_md5.js/clientscript/vbulletin_md5.js/clientscript/vbulletin_md5.js/clientscript/vbulletin_md5.js/clientscript/vbulletin_md5.js/clientscript/vbulletin_global.js HTTP/1.0" 200 32379 "-" "Referrer Karma/2.0"
Referrer Karma. LOL"

Darksat said: "I sense much Chi in you. ;)"

Darren said: "It's some plugin that checks to make sure a referral is real.... ...and checks.....and checks.....and checks......."

chris3471 said: "Seems like a waste of bandwidth."

chris3471 said: "Ok so how do I find trackback urls?"

Darren said: "When you're out on the internet, browsing related blogs. You'll see a link that says, track back this post. Click on it. Highlight the URL and copy. Go into Wordpress, click on Post and paste the URL in the box that says "trackback url". Now when you write your post, it will ping their blog. The webmaster will probably have to approve your comment. It's almost like setting up a link trade, only with a lot less hassle. I'm sure your chances are better to be published if you kiss his ass about his post :)"

chris3471 said: "Oh ok I'll give that a shot."

Darren said: "Don't make a nuisance out of yourself, but some occassional trackbacks will put you in the right neighborhood fast."

chris3471 said: "I think it may work good with the Blog reviews, who wouldn't want to link to their own review, providing of that it was a good one."

Darren said: "I'm sure that's an excellent source of incoming links. People love to talk about themselves, so they'll be happy to link to a positive piece."
