Forum Marketing - Bringing In The Members~

Mr. Tech said: "Hey guys, Nice forum you've got here :) I started up my very own webmaster related forum a few years ago. I didn't promote it much and it pretty much died :( I started it up again recently and have a few active members but I'm needing to find some ways to get some more active members... Any suggestions on how I would go about this? Cheers"

At minute I about to launch a free DVD competition  So anyone whats to sign up and start posting, it'll be unveiled very soon! :D"

That is how I see the leaders getting exposure for their forums, you have to spend money to make money is the old saying. Got to buy advertising on high traffic sites and other forums is the key to getting yours going, you have to go where the action is if you want action."

silatpupil said: "Agreed. But its not so easy. Most of the sites Ive went to arent interested at all. And good Tattoo forums are hard to find, which makes it a good niche, but bloody impossible to advertise!"

Mr. Tech said: "Thanks guys, Yes, I'm currently getting a banner made and plan to do some hard core advertising. Any webmaster related websites you can recommend advertising on? Good idea Darksat, I'm a little busy but I'm sure I can find time to psot some stuff on your forums. Maybe we could aslo do a link exchange? Once Google does a PR update (I'm guessing April) my site should be around 4-5 PR cause I've got a PR 6, 5 and 4 linking to it which will help ;) I've signed up to your forum. Here's the URL to mine: http://www.webmaster-forums101.com Cheers"

You should even consider "cheating" and creating multiple user names for yourself to post different threads with to get the ball rolling, and see if you can get friends and family interested until you have enough new members to keep it going."

edwin said: "its a catch-22. dead forums don't attract users."

Heather said: "Just wanted to say hello! Good luck on building your forum. Another good way to build traffic is to be involved with other forums. Your sig file can usually generate some qualified traffic."

Darksat said: "The secret is to put the time in, its really that simple. no promotional method is going to be very effective on its own, you have to utilise and combine them."
