what is spam blog and why a blog get this penalty?

Darren said: "Do you know what a splog is? I'll tell you. Wordpress has en email to blog function. You set up an email address in your email program. You sign up for email newsletters. When the newsletter comes in, your email program sends it to the Wordpress, which posts it! It's content you didn't write. If they do this 5 times a day, they're adding 150 pages per month to the index. If they do it on 100 blogs, it's 500 posts daily. Then in the sidebar, they contain links with anchor text to the actual website they're trying to rank for. The splogs are "backlink power" for the main website."
