AngelaCea said: "Do yourselves a favor and next time get a PowerBook.
Windows OS sucks and it's a disaster for the entire internet.
www.apple.com
Get with current technology also with Linux www.mepis.com
You guys are living in the past "
edwin said: "yowzers, thats a loaded machine h1!"
<h1> said: "I considered a powerbook but dont have experience with the mac os and get frustrated when trying to use it.
In any case I have a friend in SA who works for the only mac outlet in SA so if i'm gonna buy any mac it'll be through him with the discounts and all...Mac's are a lil too expensive for me right now....aesthetically they are my favourite though...and made for design purposes, but I still prefer windows and dell with the price and all...
Anyways the Dell arrived on Time on Monday and its cool...no surprises it looks really professional. Not as 'cool' as some other notebooks out there but i'm satisfied.
Now back to business :)"
Darksat said: "I agree about the macs, hardware wise they look nice and are fairly solid but i hate the OS and you are severly limited in hardware upgrade options.
Did you see my new toy.
Unlike a power book I can upgrade EVERYTHING on this machine, the motherboard takes up to 2GB of 400MHZ or 533 MHZ ram, the DVD burner is in a modular bay and the motherboard can be removed."
<h1> said: "wow thats quite an amazing laptop darksat!
Very slick indeed...and for £1200 i'm sure it'll prove its worth.
I'm jealous now... ;)
What really impresses me about the inspiron is the "built in inter-cooler" which makes me think of an inter-cooler for a car...making the air cooler for faster performance.
On the side of the laptop there is an intake opening which pulls in air to cool the processor for demanding loads. So when i'm using my designs programs and require a lot of processing the inter-cooler snaps into action and depending on the amount of load needed regulates the amount of fresh air needed to cool the processor.
Its pretty neat you can actually hear the fan speed up and slow down when using more demanding operations. At the back of the laptop you can notice the heat seak and feel the warm air being pushed out..
This "inter-cooler" is above the regular coolant method cos it only works when large loads are needed to be processed.
It makes me smile..."

i'm feeling cpu envy"
rickyjoreturns said: "yay for overclocking! do it do it! actually, it's probably a bad idea, but if I had a cooling system I would test it on one of my piece of junk compies i got for 10 bucks."
edwin said: "overclocking used to work well in the old 133-200 mhz days.
intel used to re-label the cpus to the lowest speed they tested for, so you could use them with no problem."
