Looking for links?Looking for links?
Darren said: "I've set up a new link directory for link trades with Web-Mastery
It works like this:
Select submit.
Put up our link as requested.
Fill out the form with your link info and submit.
Your site is checked for link, then queued.
Next we manually check the link page - make sure it's not redirected or an orphan page. Once we see it's good, we approve you.
You are sent an email with the location of your link.
If you want a one-way link without linking back to us, you can do so for $19.99 one time.
You can also check our sister directories at:

Webs-Best-Directory

Goongee
Link-Pimp
All of our links are straight through HTML with no funny business. Thanks for you consideration. All the pages are very spider friendly and we are spidered by all the major search engines constantly."

Software Training
Thanks,

Darren said: "Hello Mary,
All of the directories have a Society/Education
We'd also be happy to make appropriate sub-categories depending on the content of your site. We're attempting to keep the links in a clearly themed category.
What we normally do, is when someone submits and we don't have a category, we just create the most appropriate ones."

I was wondering the same thing, capebretoner.
llbeano, you need to back up your statement."

So don't. It's not like I asked you to. BTW, welcome and thanks for joining and thanks for the input."

He doesn't like them and he has a right to not like them. He also does not
need to justify what he likes and what he does not like.
Although we always want criticism to be worded in such a way that it is
not offensive, it's alway offensive :)
The wise person learns for all forms of criticism and gives thanks.
Criticism, solicited or not, is known as "customer feedback" and there is no
other way to know what your visitors are thinking; it's really quite valuable.
In this case, it may seem useless because he did not specify, but that could
be taken by the admin as "there is room for improvement". That's not the
most helpful feedback in the world, but we can not encourage more feedback
without be gratefull for what we currently get.
In one forum that I visit, people with suggestions are told "if you don't like it,
post somewhere else".
That's the absolute lack of customer regard. I'm glad this forum is so much
better than that.

edwin said: "in all reality, that isn't real feedback at all.
he doesn't specify what site name he didn't like. he doesn't say why he didn't like it. and he never came back for a follow up.
many people online would consider that a "troll" post"
Darren said: "I have no problem with criticism. This guy was more than entitled to criticize me and he did.
However, criticism is a two-way street. That's why barbs from anonymous people with no contact information on the Internet will be taken only so seriously."

Hi Edwin,
I understand what you're saying. I was using his comment as an example
to make a point.

Hi web-mastery,
That was my point. If we take criticism in the normal everyday way, it is
a two way street. One pokes, the other pokes back.
Visitor: "I didn't like your sites."
Site owner: "Why didn't you like them?"
Visitor: "Cuz I didn't."
Site owner: "That's not a reason, please be more specific. I can not
help you, if you are vague."
Visitor: "I'm not asking you to 'help me', just saying what I think".
Site owner: "Well, if you don't want help, why are you here?"
Nine times out of ten, the situation turns confrontational with the webmaster,
(or vendor of any kind, not just webmasters), justifying his site and his
actions and his/her "rights" to "do it his way".
I was trying to convert the "critiicism" into feedback. Feedback is not
necessarily a two way street, in that, customers are not obligated to
give feedback nor are they obligated to justify it or identify themselves.
All the responsibility for getting value from feedback is on the vendor.
Maybe this guy was "just trolling", but as intelligent and creative human
beings, we can make lemonade from lemons.

Darren said: "I agree. No one wants to hear that someone didn't like their website.
'Feedback' and 'criticism' are two very different words. I guess feedback implies any comment from a contact form or feedback form and most of that will be one-way communications. There is a definite place for this and a one liner like "I don't like his directories" would be expected from a comment form.
However, in a forum, we would expect that his comment was the opening salvo in an on-going dialogue between the site-owner (me) and the potential customer (him). We would engage and eventually find a common ground.
I took his post to be more of an ad-hoc shot rather than a legitimate dialogue. So far history has vindicated my point, but you are right that I should probably have probed him more deeply for his points."
